The Universities Superannuation Scheme the second largest pension fund in the UK, has committed $600m (€425m) to Boston, MA-based buyout firm Constitution Capital Partners to invest in North American mid-market private equity funds and direct co-investments. The pension fund will take a stake of around 10 per cent in CCP as part of the deal.

Barclays Global Investors has announced that Deborah Fuhr, an 11-year veteran of Morgan Stanley’s exchange traded funds business and a recognised expert in ETF research, has joined the company. Ms Fuhr will be a managing director and global head of ETF research and implementation strategy.

The Pension Protection Fund’s CEO Partha Dasgupta is to step down in the summer of 2009. Separately, the PPF has appointed consultants Oliver Wyman to develop a new risk-based levy formula more consistent with its long term funding strategy.

Société Générale has passed a significant milestone in its efforts to become a major asset servicing player in the Indian market, with the country’s Foreign Investment Promotion Board approving its custodial services joint venture with the State Bank of India.
