Nicholls joins Man board of directors
Man Group has appointed Jonathan Nicholls to the board of directors of the company as an independent non-executive director with effect from last month.
Mr Nicholl will be a member of the audit and risk, remuneration and nomination committees of the hedge fund group. He joined Hanson in 1996 as group treasurer and was appointed to the position of finance director of Hanson in June 1998. He previously worked for Abbey National where he held several treasury and financial roles.
Axa takes Barrett from JPMorgan
Axa Rosenberg has strengthened its institutional sales team with the appointment of Rob Barrett to focus on the UK and Irish markets.
Mr Barrett, who joins this month from JPMorgan, has some 20 years’ investment experience.
During 2003, the team in Europe, led by Simon Vanstone, added 47 new institutional relationships with assets worth over $3bn.
Vigsnes new head of trading at NTGI
Northern Trust Global Investments has hired Richard Vigsnes as head of trading for its quantitative management business arm.
Before joining Northern Trust, Mr Vigsnes was responsible for all aspects of trading automated statistically-based trading strategies as executive director of programme trading at UBS Warburg.
Mr Vigsnes will spearhead the trading strategies incorporated in Northern Trust’s global enhanced and quantitative value-added investment strategies.
Pimco lures Nicholls to UK fixed income
Pimco has poached Steven Nicholls from UBS Global Asset Management to boost its UK fixed income team.
Mr Nicholls, who spent 21 years at UBS will join the firm as a senior account manager, with responsibility for UK pension schemes and other sterling-based institutional clients.
At UBS he was an executive director in the fixed income team. He is an experienced bond manager of both sterling and global bond portfolios, and has specialised in client relationship management, new business and consultant marketing since 1999.
JPMorgan Treasury hires BNY veteran
JPMorgan Treasury Services, a unit of JPMorgan Chase Bank, has hired Jeremy Shaw as head its trade services team for the EMEA region.
Mr Shaw joins JPMorgan from The Bank of New York where he was regional trade head for EMEA.
Based in London, he will be responsible for the delivery and development of JPMorgan’s trade services, trade finance, payables discounting and value chain management businesses for EMEA.
The team is also extending its offering to incorporate more elements of the financial supply chain. This will enable corporations to benefit from cost reductions through increased efficiency in document clearance, and the integration of their logistics and financial services needs.
