He is vice-chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) Investment Council and a member of the NAPF Board. Before joining Railpen, Mr Hitchin was a principal at Aon Consulting, where he specialised in investment consultancy.
Old Mutual hires hedge fund head
Old Mutual Asset Managers UK (Omam) has appointed Charles Bathurst as head of hedge fund distribution.
He will be responsible for sales of Omam’s range of hedge funds to institutions and other investors, mainly in the UK and continental Europe.
Prior to joining Omam, he was head of global marketing, sales and client services at Credit Agricole Asset Management.
BlueBay strengthens its portfolio teams
BlueBay Asset Management, a UK-based specialist fixed income manager, has announced three appointments to its portfolio management teams.
Cian Walsh joins as a portfolio manager/strategist on the emerging market debt team working with David Dowsett and Simon Treacher who manage BlueBay’s emerging market bond funds.
Mr Walsh was previously at Standard Asset Management, where he held a similar post.
Hanna Bui also joins the emerging market team as a credit analyst. She previously worked as an assistant vice president at ABN Amro DCM in London and New York.
Caroline McQueston has been appointed credit analyst for the investment grade team working with Raphael Robelin, the senior portfolio manager for BlueBay’s Investment Grade Bond Fund launched in 2003.
Shapland picked for RBC regional post
RBC Global Services has appointed Simon Shapland, regional vice-president, Europe & Middle East. He will head up the sales and relationship management group in London, Dubai and Luxembourg.
Mr Shapland has worked at ABN Amro Mellon as the first vice-president, regional sales and marketing manager. He also held the position of senior vice-president, head of Europe Sales for BISYS Investment Services.
