Corr: institutional pan-European manager

E5.46bn in pan-European equities

Flagship product

Morley does not have a pan-European institutional fund, but runs a segregated institutional pan European Fund on behalf of a client.

Investment process

Team-based approach to running clients money combines proprietary quantitative capability with the flair of individual fund managers. Approach to investment based on needs and scale of clients and four fundamental beliefs about how markets work:

  • Most of the return on a portfolio is derived from its overall strategic positioning,
  • Markets are often inefficient,
  • Part of this inefficiency arises from the cyclical bias of most investors.
  • At the level of stock selection, markets tend to value well managed companies most highly.
Morley likes to draw on a wide range of investment styles, believing complementary styles can be blended to generate consistent out-performance across all market cycles. In selecting stocks, Morley makes use of proprietary research to assess the impact of corporate governance issues on share price performance.
Team composition

The Morley Pooled pensions European equity fund is overseen by Bruno Berry, who joined the firm in its previous incarnation as Commercial Union in 1993. Gavin Corr, ex chief investment director for equities at American Express, manages pan-European equities for institutional mandates. Rita Dhut and Philip Parker, both ex-Prudential and Mark Denham, ex-Insight, all manage European equities, with a strong emphasis on life insurance clients. These managers, plus Morley’s UK specialists, are supported by a team of 14 analysts.
